Puns aside, Spring/Summer is prime time to road-test the new trends taking over the runway, from cool minimalist nail-art to the more articulate designs. Here are five new ways to work with your nails.
Teal French Mani
A twist on the classic, Alice+Olivia have reworked the French mani into something that goes with practically every look. Start by filing nails into a square shape, buffing up to make for a natural shine. Next slick on a clear base coat to prevent the polish staining your nails long-term. Complete the look by adding a stripe of teal across the tips and let dry. Seal the look with a clear top coat et voila!
We always thinking about covering the whole nail when we paint them, but what about leaving out some? Slick on a zesty orange color just above the cuticle to a too-cool-to-care look. Apply two coats for an extra bold result, and again, seal with a top coat for optimum shine.
Delpozo showed off the great way to make neon colors pop – apply two coats of white nail polish first, before finishing with a coat of bright yellow to make the color pop.
Make it Stick
Want to make a point? Nail stickers are a fantastic way to say what you want without opening your mouth. Start with a nude shade and let it dry. Then add a letter sticker on each nail to make a word with each hand – finish off with clear nail polish to avoid them prematurely peeling off. And there you have it!
Neutral shades too basic? Metallic gold is a perennial crowd pleaser. Oscar de la Renta showed no fancy filing; just nails rounded off at the edges and two clear coats of metallic gold nail paint.
