Crazy about Coachella – Hair + Makeup Guide
We’ve rounded up the festival make-up ideas you could, and should, be working when you're rocking around a field, sipping gin and juice, feeling like world peace really could happen if we all just learned to love (and wear way more glitter). Say hello to Coachella make-up and hair inspiration, and goodbye to festival make-up FOMO.
Gimme a Gold Star
Modeled by the likes of Alessandra Ambrosio, delicate gold stars are a great alternative to those who fear the glitter. It’s an effortless look – a fresh face with a slick of blusher, and dab two gold stars on each cheek (one big one at the top of your cheek and a smaller one just slightly below). Finish off with a nude lip and one big smile! Not sure about stars? A gold paint swatch as eyeshadow is a great way to flaunt a glow without having to do your eye makeup – think Alexis Mabille SS18 collection – a creamy gold matte washed over the eyelid without too much precision.
Nothing is trending more than this look for SS18! It’s time to brave bright and bolshy colors to make yourself center-stage this festival. Yep, primary colors are back. Whether you're all about the sunset eyeshadow or mermaid look, this Summer, washes of color are in. A look which goes with pretty much every skin color and type is one from Jill Stuart’s front row – dabble a purple-blue eyeshadow in the inner corner of the eyelid, followed by a very pale cream, and heading to the outer edge with a terracotta red. Blend the red upwards and out into a wing shape, lining the bottom eyelids with the same color and finally dashing a little cream eyeshadow into the lower inner eyelid. Finish with lashing of black mascara et voila!
Millennial pink is just not going anywhere
Pink eyeshadow meets blue mascara makes for an uber modern 80s makeup look that's so millennial. Sweep on a hot pink over the entire eyelid, sweeping out at the edges, and line the inner eyelids with a navy blue eyeliner. Finish off with lashings of navy blue mascara and a clear lip gloss; you don’t want to over-do the rest of your face.
Put your Hands up for Pantone
The trend color of the year is sure to feature, whether it’s on nails or eyeshadow - UltraViolet is a real eye-catcher with an exceptional quality: iris is a color that suits all! If you’re looking for a subtle look, line the lower lid and keep the upper lid nude or a shimmery gold to create a beautiful contrast. If you’re not feeling purple makeup, temporary hair color is a great way to experiment - just coloring the ends can make the whole world of difference!
90’s braids equal the best festival look ever and it’s relatively easy to do, especially on day 2 or 3 of the festival and your hair is a bit worse for wear. Grab small sections from the front of your hair and do a simple plait, securing with a clear elastic band. Then take other small parts of hair at random, plaiting and fastening in the same way. The best thing? Precision is not on the agenda, making it a great look for when you’re hungover and need an effortless look.
